Portrait and Headshot Photography in Ayrshire and Central Scotland

In September 2021, my wife Brenda and I moved to live permanently in North Ayrshire, Scotland. I had been an Armed Forces Chaplain for fourteen years, and have been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember. During my time with the British Armed Forces, I was able to hone my portraiture skills by making many military portraits, headshots, and family photographs.
In my spare time, I was able to take on a number of freelance photography assignments, and gain valuable experience. However, now that I am living in Scotland, I am able to devote myself fully to photography. Out of my natural love for people, I have chosen to focus (excuse the pun) on portrait and headshot photography in Ayrshire and Central Scotland. I will, of course consider assignments further afield and will respond to requests for other genres including commercial, event and (even) press photography.
The upside of working in a studio is that it's always warm and dry, with equipment set up and ready to go. That said, I have purposely elected to not work out of a dedicated studio, simply because I aim to be able to produce studio quality photographs in almost any environment. Why? Well, simply because it gives me tremendous flexibility, enabling me to offer my clients headshots and portraits almost anywhere - at my location; in the comfort of your home; in a beautiful setting; at a chosen venue; or even at your place of work.
It also means that I can offer high quality environmental and lifestyle portraits, either indoors or outdoors and at any time of the day, allowing for virtually unlimited opportunities for creative portraiture in a location(s) that suits the image you wish to portray. And working outdoors means I can make best use of natural and available light.
Ayrshire, indeed the whole of Scotland, is simply beautiful. We can use that beauty, not only for wonderful land and seascapes but for stunning portraiture too.
And finally, financially speaking, without the cost of running a studio, I am able to keep my pricing at affordable levels. However, should a studio be crucial to our desired output, I am able to hire one locally.
For the photoshoot, my aim is always to create a professional but friendly and relaxed environment. I believe this to be vital to the creation of stunning imagery. We begin the process with an initial consultation to get to know one another and to establish precisely what you are looking for, and we agree on a venue, time and date to do the shoot. And then the fun begins!
